10 min | 24 h marinating | Easy | 7 Ingredients
Ingredients:
half of tofu/ tempeh cube
tablespoon of smoked paprika
100 ml of tomato paste
tablespoon of soy sauce
2 tablespoons of maple syrup
1 tablespoon of olive oil
water
⚠️ Warning ⚠️
You need to marinate it over night for better deeper taste!!
This recipe is a lazy super quick but waiting time takes some time. You can find many recipes all over the internet. All of them are fancy and lovely. This is just my lazy quick twisted version.
1’ Step: Slice tempeh/tofu
Take your tofu or tempeh and cut it in to small dices. Smaller pieces will need less time to marinate, if you aim for time efficiency, smaller pieces will be ready quicker. You can do slices as well but be ready to wait for 24h.

2’ Step: Marinate
Add all ingredients to a container that you will leave your vegan bacon to marinate in a fridge. I start with tomato paste, soy sauce and syrup. I mix it all together and than i start to add the rest of spices and water at the end. Water is needed to make the sauce less thick so it can easily spread across all tofu/tempeh pieces.

3’ Step: marinate
When you are satisfied with the marinate, add diced tempeh/tofu to the mix. Cover the dish and put it to a fridge. Let it sit for at least a night.

4’ Step: Next day
Bake it. On a paper sheet spread you dices/pieces of tempeh/tofu evenly. Set your oven for 175°C (347°F) and leave it for 10-15 minutes. it depends on how big are your pieces. Have a look once in a while, they should be crispy but we do not want them to burn. You can add it to carbonara, your sandwich or what ever you desire.
