12 min | 30 min marinating | Easy | 6 Ingredients
Ingredients:
½ cube of Tofu
50 ml soy sauce
½ lemon or citron
2 tsp of chili oil
This is more for spice to come through. (I used
LAOGANMA) However, any spices will work
with a bit of oil.
1 small bowl of Panko
oil for frying
Equipment
- pan
1’ Step: Prep marinate
Add a bowl/dish half of lemon/lime juice with soy sauce (i use vegan low salt version) with chili oil. Mix it all and add water.Shred tofu into small cubes – i aimed for 2 cm sizes, but i wasn’t very vigilant. You can press it before adding it to the marinade. I never have time for this, and it works without it too. I leave it in the fridge for 20-30 min.

2’ Step: panko out!
After 20 min – you can start to heat your pan and prepare panko. I always add panko to a small bowl. This way, I can coat it properly without moving it around too much. Time is a key.

3’ Step: Fry away!
Add oil to the pan, be generous, the whole surface needs to be coated in oil. Add breaded tofu and fry for about 3 min on medium heat on each side.

4’ Step: Serving
I normally serve it with tahini sauce. Mix a spoon of tahini, ½ lemon juice, soy sauce, harissa, and water. Add some chopped green leaves like mint, cilantro, and spring onions on top.
It is super tasty and crispy. I totally recommend.
